The PTC is a top-loading oven specifically designed for burn-in, qualification testing and calibration of oil and gas downhole drilling instruments. In the field, these ovens are used for periodic calibration of the electronics on the drill tool. The oven simulates the downhole temperature conditions and validates that the instruments will work properly and accurately throughout the run.
The oven is built to stand up to harsh oilfield conditions for many years, with heavy duty construction and an aluminized interior for maximum corrosion resistance. Standard model top-loading PTC ovens are available in eight-foot or twelve-foot chamber lengths and can reach temperatures up to 260℃ (500℉). Horizontal airflow with adjustable louvers ensures uniform airflow across the entire length of the chamber.
A space-conscious footprint is combined with heavy duty dollies for easy moving. Marinite end caps can be machined to insert instruments, testing leads or tooling and can also be removed to allow two ovens to be used end-to-end for longer loads. The top-loading oven allows heavy equipment to be loaded into the test chamber by crane and silicone door seals and positive-latching clamps hold the door securely in place.
In addition to standard top-loading models, Despatch also offers front-loading models, higher temperature capabilities and custom lengths. Non-magnetic/non-conductive configurations with a fiberglass oven body and structural supports are available for electromagnetic instrument testing. These ovens come in 12, 15 and 24 foot chamber lengths and have a maximum temperature of 180℃ (356℉).
PTC ovens come equipped with the Protocol 3™ microprocessor-based temperature and hi-limit controller with a large LCD display and real time clock for auto start capability. It features three operating modes: Manual, Timer, and Profile. The data-logging functionality enables reporting and analysis, and data files can be exported via the controller’s USB port.
Remote operation, programming and data logging | The Despatch Protocol Manager network utility software enables the operation of up to 32 Protocol 3™ and/or Protocol Plus controllers from a single, remote PC using RS485 communication.
